About Us

My photo
Madison, Georgia, United States
After teaching in the public school system for 26 years, I am now enjoy retirement to the fullest. No more alarm clocks and I can play in clay. I finished my Bachelor’s of Visual Arts in 1980, and my Master’s in Visual Arts in 1986. My Master’s Thesis was in painting which I enjoyed immensely. However, clay had a big hold on me and I gathered up many credit hours throwing pots and hand building some of my best pieces. While enjoying teaching there wasn’t much time or energy left for my own creative projects. I concentrated on encouraging students to be creative and planned projects for them. Now, I get to go with my creative whims and make art for fun. My husband and I live in our lake house located on the north end of Lake Oconee, where Oconee River flows into the lake. We make clay items and fire them in our backyard studio, Oconee River Mud Pottery. My husband is a beginning potter and is showing lots of talent. And for now is “keeping his day job”. One of our favorite activities is raku firing. We raku fire big things like the lidded bird jars, and little things like beads and pendants, and focal components. You will see several of those listed in our Etsy store.

Thank you.

Nudged out of my comfort zone!  That is what has happened!  It is because Linda of AllAboutCats.etsy.com nudged me out of my comfort zone, that I have started this blog.  And I am happy to say that it does feel like an accomplishment.   I still have a long way to go here, but the scary startup has been achieved.  I continue to make progress in learning the ropes of online communication and I have found that it is so much fun to be in touch with gifted people, and talented artists.
Isn’t it nice to meet people who have an encouraging spirit and who offer a helping hand?  Thank you, Linda.  Hopefully, my cat loving family members will visit your Etsy store.  AllAboutCats.etsy.com
I know if they do and get a look at all those darling cat toys that you make, they will have to buy their dear kitties some new play things.   Russ the Penguin is soooo cute, I bet someone will snap him up in a catnip minute!
Speaking of my relatives, I have to say thank you to them too for their support of my recent endeavor to open an Etsy shop.  They have offered very helpful bits of information. Since I have relatives that live in far off places, I can boast that my customer base reaches from here to China!  I call that worldwide notoriety!!  God bless them all.

Well, it’s time for me to go check on my fun Etsy shop at http://www.oconeeriverpottery@etsy.com

Who knows, I may have had some viewers today!
